Westfield Council advances labor contracts for town employees

Town Council Notifications · Meeting of January 13, 2026

NJ WESTFIELD — Westfield Council advances labor contracts for town and fire employees. The Town Council passed on first reading two ordinances establishing salary schedules for approximately 73 workers: Communication Workers of America Local 1040 (35 town employees, contract through 2029) and Fireman's Mutual Benevolent Association Branch 30 (38 Fire Department employees, contract through 2030). Both ordinances received unanimous approval with final passage scheduled for January 27.

Mayor Berman also addressed a recent spike in car thefts and residential burglaries, crediting the Westfield Police Department's aggressive response with the highest staffing and budget levels in town history.
