Town Council awards $2.5M road contract, pursues Grove Street state funding

NJ WESTFIELD — Westfield Town Council votes on infrastructure spending and revisits troubled development project. The Council unanimously awarded a $2.53 million contract to P&A Construction for 2026 road improvements and approved a state grant application for Grove Street improvements including paving, drainage, and ADA ramps. Mayor Berman announced that the entire Council is aligned on exploring modifications to the One Westfield Place project in light of Saks' bankruptcy reorganization, including potential changes to project scale, mix of uses, and design to reflect current market realities.

Saks is expected to emerge from bankruptcy in coming weeks after securing $500 million in exit financing.
