Westfield Council adopts $32.5 million municipal budget for 2026

NJ WESTFIELD — Westfield adopts $32.5M municipal budget with measured approach to costs. The Town Council voted 7-0 (with Councilwoman Adwar and Councilman Venkataraman absent) to approve the 2026 municipal budget authorizing $32,523,064 to be raised through taxation, along with a separate minimum library levy of $3,956,534. Mayor Berman emphasized the budget reflects a careful approach to cost increases while maintaining municipal services.
The Council unanimously approved a $452,135 Special Improvement District budget, a $57,586.80 contract for firefighter protective equipment and thermal imaging cameras (80 percent grant-funded), and General Ordinance No. 2026-13, which added two handicapped parking spaces and extended a no-parking restriction on Barchester Way.
