NJ WESTFIELD — Westfield approves $5.4 million capital bond and 3.5 percent budget increase. The Town Council unanimously adopted a bond ordinance financing $5.415 million in capital improvements, including $4.093 million for road work with Dorian Road resurfacing as the primary project, $375,000 in DPW equipment, and $200,000 for fire station renovations. An accompanying ordinance established a cap bank to allow the 2026 budget to increase by 3.5 percent rather than the state-mandated 2 percent, permitting $1.449 million in additional appropriations.
Council also approved a lease with Vango Westfield LLC for the Mills-Ferris-Pearsall House, an 18th-century historic property, for nominal consideration to host educational and cultural programming.
