Tamaques Park free library gets commission approval

Recreation Commission · Meeting of June 1, 2026

NJ WESTFIELD — The Westfield Recreation Commission unanimously approved a proposal to install a free little library at Tamaques Park. Lisa Hunt, the proposer, designed the planter-based library for placement near park benches at no cost to the town. In summer programming updates, the Neighborhood Council will return to the pool with 20 to 25 children attending twice weekly.

A $1,500 grant will fund a program employing Westfield youth to perform odd jobs for seniors 62 and older. The commission identified field and tennis court reservation conflicts as an ongoing management issue requiring attention.
