Recreation Commission approves pickleball fundraiser

Recreation Commission · Meeting of March 9, 2026

NJ WESTFIELD — Westfield Recreation Commission approves pickleball fundraiser for childhood cancer awareness. Organizers Ashima Singla and Sushmita Srivastav will hold the tournament at Tamaques Park on the first Sunday in June, expecting 50 to 60 adult and youth players. The Commission also heard a proposal from Garage Gym cofounder Kieran Williams for a free Field Day event with food vendors but deferred decision pending development of policy on private-business-sponsored park events.

Chairperson Andrew Braunstein noted that Tamaques Park redesign concepts will be presented in coming weeks, while the Recreation Department prepares for Q3-Q4 construction of a new building at Sid-Fey Houlihan Field, with spring sports beginning April 1.
