Commission approves senior program funding and summer pool access

NJ WESTFIELD — Westfield Recreation Commission backs $5,000 senior program funding and free pool access. Lifelong Westfield program coordinator Brad Chananie reported current participation at 28 to 45 seniors per monthly lunch and 70 to 80 at the fall services fair, with the program projected to return $3,500 to the recreation department once pending trips conclude. The commission unanimously approved the additional $5,000 and also unanimously approved free pool access for 40 Community Center campers through summer, conditioned on resubmission for next year's approval.

A citizen-science park-monitoring app proposal was deferred pending parks committee review.
