Town Council Notifications · Meeting of February 24, 2026
NJ WESTFIELD — Westfield Council adopts seven ordinances for affordable housing compliance. The Town Council approved seven ordinances on first reading Tuesday evening implementing the town's Fourth Round Fair Housing Act obligations. Councilwoman Gilman sponsored all measures, which passed unanimously by the eight council members present, with Councilman Pecker absent and Councilman Domogala recusing on one overlay-zone ordinance.
The ordinances amend affordable housing regulations and development fees and establish four new or overlay zoning districts: ES-AH, FR-AHO, SA-AH, and SAW-AHO, each permitting 25 dwelling units per acre. Final passage is set for March 10 ahead of a mid-March state compliance deadline.
