Historic Preservation Commission · Meeting of July 27, 2026
NJ WESTFIELD — Historic Preservation Commission rejects homeowner's request to remove Stoneleigh Park historic designation. Chair Jennifer Jaruzelski presided over the July 27 hearing on Donald Furrer's de-designation request, in which Furrer cited regulatory burden and lack of informed consent to the original designation. Commission member Matthew Schafer noted the property meets National Register criteria for designation.
Jaruzelski clarified that a planned garage floor repair would not have required Commission approval. Following public testimony, the Commission voted unanimously not to approve the de-designation ordinance.
