Town Council Notifications · Meeting of March 24, 2026
NJ WESTFIELD — Westfield Council introduces 2026 budget with estimated $80 annual tax increase for average homeowner. Mayor Jeremy Berman and the Finance Policy Committee presented the municipal and capital budgets, which the council voted 8-0 (one absent) to approve, along with emergency appropriations totaling $11,434,400 for the current fund and $157,000 for the swimming pool utility fund. The budget balances non-discretionary cost increases in healthcare, utilities, pensions, and sewer services with continued investments in public safety, infrastructure, and parks.
Council also introduced three ordinances for first reading: a cap-bank ordinance, a $5,415,000 bond authorization for public improvements and equipment, and a lease agreement for the historic Mills-Ferris-Pearsall House at $1.00 annually. Final vote scheduled April 21.
